Challenge

Translate eight artists' distinct AI-assisted practices, media formats, and software systems into permanent digital installations that preserved artistic intent while meeting Google's strict security, playback, and operational requirements.

Approach

As Technical Producer for Gray Area, I led site studies, spatial planning, display and hardware design, workflow research, software adaptation, secure playback integration, installation, and burn-in testing. This included substantially reworking select artist codebases for unattended playback, centralized scheduling, reliable recovery, and long-term operation.

Outcome

All eight digital works launched successfully and remain in permanent operation throughout Gradient Canopy's main corridor. The project concluded with technical documentation, tested maintenance and recovery workflows, and training for a newly assembled Google operations team.
